The days of the birthday shoot, we started with soft natural light flooding the studio, highlighting her radiant beauty. I love how my space fills with sunlight—it’s so flattering & sets the stage for timeless, elegant images. She felt right at home, & the excitement turned into pure fun.
Her session included everything from playful, candid moments to poised, mature portraits. Whether she was laughing with her sister & mom or striking a pose that exuded grace, every shot told a bit of her story in this amazing chapter of life.
Of course, we didn’t forget the details! A mini bouquet of fresh sunflowers added a touch of youthful charm to her outdoor portion of the session, & a delicate crown with a new gown borrowed from the client closet, completed the celebration inside the new studio. These small touches created a unique, personal atmosphere that made her feel celebrated & special.
Capturing Confidence and Joy
What I loved most about this session was seeing her confidence shine through. She is playful, strong – hello CrossFit Teen Athlete, and she was entirely herself. She is not one for wearing makeup, but her natural look is absolutely stunning. Whether we were capturing soft, dreamy poses or bold, dramatic shots, the range of emotions in her images shows the depth of who she is at 17.
As a photographer, my goal is always to bring out the best in my clients, to capture the unique beauty of who they are in that moment. It has been so rewarding to witness this young woman’s spirit grow since she was a baby & I love making it shine through the lens. Each frame was a celebration of her joy, her dreams, & the exciting future ahead.

When her family previewed the final gallery, they were overjoyed. The giggles & laughs through her silly & serious faces were music to my ears.
Seventeen is such a fleeting, magical age, & this session allowed her to truly bask in that moment. Every photo was filled with love, laughter, & light—a reflection of a young woman stepping into her power.
